How to vote in Burlington's 2026 election: online, at an advance poll, on October 26 or by proxy
Online voting runs from 10 a.m. October 14 to 8 p.m. October 23. Advance polls open October 17 and 20 at three community centres, and Voting Day is Monday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Four ways to vote
The City of Burlington lists four ways to vote in the October 2026 municipal election: online, in person at an advance poll, in person on Voting Day, or by proxy. Voters elect a Mayor, one City and Regional Councillor for their ward, and school board trustees.
- 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23
- 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23
- Saturday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Monday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voting online
To vote online you need the Voter Information Letter the City has been mailing to everyone on the Voters' List. It carries a Voter Registration Number and a link to the voting website, which is run by Voatz Canada Ltd. and works on a computer or a phone's browser. You then complete a two-step verification by email or text to receive a voting PIN.
The City notes that PINs cannot be issued before online voting opens at 10 a.m. on October 14, and the last chance to register for one is 7:30 p.m. on October 23. If you plan to vote online and have not received your letter by October 9, the City asks you to contact its Election Team.
Voting in person
Advance polls on October 17 and October 20 are held at three locations, and eligible voters can use any of them: Skyway Community Centre (129 Kenwood Ave.), the Burlington Seniors' Centre (2285 New St.) and Tansley Woods Community Centre (1996 Itabashi Way).
On Voting Day, October 26, there are 24 voting locations, four in each ward, and you can vote at any location in your own ward. The 2026 election uses new ward boundaries, so the City recommends checking your ward on its Find My Ward map before you go.
Bring your Voter Information Letter, which speeds up check-in, and one piece of ID showing your name and address. Photo ID is not required. The City lists an Ontario driver's licence, an Ontario photo card, a cancelled personalized cheque and an insurance policy or statement among accepted documents; international ID and permanent resident cards are not accepted.
Voting by proxy
If you cannot vote online, at an advance poll or on Voting Day, you can appoint someone who is eligible to vote in Burlington to vote for you. You and your proxy both complete the Appointment for Voting Proxy form; your proxy then takes it with their ID to the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall, 426 Brant St., to be certified, and brings the certified form to an advance or Voting Day location.
Who can vote
