The details

What Council passed

At its September 29 meeting, Burlington City Council enacted By-law 55-2026, which amends the City's traffic by-law, By-law 86-2007. The minutes record that it passed with the other by-laws on the agenda, 7 to 0, and the by-law states that it came into force the day it was passed. It was added to the agenda as an addendum item, and BurlingtonIQ did not find a separate City announcement about it.

Turn restriction

The by-law adds Regency Court at Prospect Street to the list of prohibited turns: no right turn on a red signal, all day, for both northbound and southbound traffic on Regency Court.

Stop signs added to the by-law

  • Eagle Drive at North Shore Boulevard East: southbound Eagle Drive.
  • Glenwood Avenue at North Shore Boulevard East: southbound Glenwood Avenue.
  • Edgewater Crescent at North Shore Boulevard East: northbound Edgewater Crescent, re-listed under the corrected street name.
  • Lemonville Road at Hidden Valley Road: eastbound and westbound Lemonville Road.

Streets near Spruce Avenue

Three connected streets off Spruce Avenue move to stop control in the by-law's schedules. Penn Drive, from Spruce Avenue to its western end, moves from the yield-controlled through-highway schedule to the stop-controlled one. Malvern Road, from Spruce Avenue to its southern end, and Walden Drive, between Malvern and Penn Drive, are added as stop-controlled through highways, and the yield sign listed for westbound Walden Drive at Malvern Road is removed.

The by-law also rewrites the entries for North Shore Boulevard, splitting them into North Shore Boulevard East and West segments between LaSalle Park Road, Glenwood Avenue, Eagle Drive, Edgewater Crescent, King Road and Indian Road, and rewrites the entries for Fairwood Place West, near LaSalle Park Road and Hendrie Avenue.
