Walkers Line repaving between North Service Road and Upper Middle Road moves to spring 2027

The City says sidewalk, multi-use path, cycle track and street lighting work on the first stage of the Walkers Line renewal should be done this year, but the overnight milling and paving it had planned for fall 2026 is now set for spring 2027.

What changed

The City of Burlington's Walkers Line Renewal page, dated October 29 in the City's road construction feed, says all boulevard work on Stage 1, Walkers Line from North Service Road to Upper Middle Road, is expected to be complete in 2026: street lighting, sidewalk, multi-use pathway and asphalt cycle track. Road repaving on that stretch "has been rescheduled to spring of 2027."

The final milling and paving for Stage 1 is to be done at night because of the high volume of vehicles on the road, the City says. It will take about three weeks and is now to be completed in spring 2027. The City's June 2026 project update had Stage 1 construction running until December 2026 and the night paving completed in fall 2026. Neither the page nor the June update gives a reason for the change, and no spring dates have been posted.

During construction

The City's June update says lane restrictions will be in place during construction and full road closures are not planned, although some turning movements may be temporarily affected. Access to homes and businesses may be interrupted during normal construction hours, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the update says the inspector or contractor will give notice of access interruptions before a closure.
