Voting Day and election results
Voting Day is Monday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. An elector can vote at any of the four locations in their own ward, and online voting, which was extended after a mailing error left about 5,000 Ward 6 voter information letters undelivered, ends at 8 p.m. on October 25. The City says unofficial results will appear in batches after 8 p.m. on Voting Day at myvote.burlington.ca/results, and that the City Clerk declares the official results later.
Update, October 30: The City declared the official results on October 28. Of 160,089 eligible voters, 56,863, or 35.5 per cent, voted, the City says, and a copy of the certified results is on its election site.
Planning decisions: appeal deadline
The City's decision notices set 4:30 p.m. on October 28 as the last time to appeal Council's September 29 decisions on four planning files to the Ontario Land Tribunal. On October 23 the Province made zoning orders on the Millcroft golf course lands; the City said it is reviewing them and will share next steps once that review is complete.
Update, October 30: The deadline has passed. The City's development page for Millcroft Greens Phase 2 now shows the status Appealed, in an entry dated October 29; it does not say who appealed or which decision is under appeal. The City's pages for the three Plains Road East sites still show the status Under Review and do not show whether those decisions have been appealed.
A school boundary meeting and Regional Council
The Halton District School Board's agenda for its Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, November 3 at 6 p.m., at the J.W. Singleton Education Centre, 2050 Guelph Line, lists the recommendation from its Burlington Central–Nelson boundary review, which covers where some Tecumseh PS students go for Grade 9 from September 2027. Residents of Halton who want to address trustees must submit the board's online Delegation Request Form by noon on Monday, November 2. On Wednesday, November 4 at 9:30 a.m., Halton Regional Council's agenda includes a Public Works memo saying basement-flooding outreach in the Region's priority areas will focus on Burlington and Milton in 2027.
Getting around and getting ready for winter
- Transit: from November 1, the City says Burlington Transit has updated trip times on Routes 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 11, 12, 48, 80 and 81, and Route 25 runs every 15 minutes at midday.
- Snow: registration for the 2026-2027 Windrow Clearing Program, which costs $150 plus HST with half price for eligible residents, closes on November 7 or when spots run out.
- Leaves: loose-leaf collection runs in three zones, with Zone 1 on November 9 to 13, Zone 2 on November 16 to 20 and Zone 3 on November 23 to 27. Leaves go out no more than two days before your zone's pick-up.
- Roadwork: the City's project page for the Bromley Road area reconstruction says base asphalt, driveway restoration and sod are to be finished by November 2026 on all streets in the project, with top asphalt in May 2027. The City says leaf collection and winter maintenance will not be disrupted.
A new Council
In its September 29 decision highlights, the City said that on November 16 Burlington's new Council will be sworn in for the 2026-2030 term, and that members of the public are invited to attend the inauguration at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. The City said details would be confirmed closer to the date.
Update, October 30: In its October 28 release, the City said the first meeting of the new Council, where members will be sworn in, is Monday, November 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, 440 Locust St. It is open to the public, with a livestream at burlington.ca/calendar. The term of office runs from November 15, 2026 to November 14, 2030.
