Snake Road rebuild now runs to the end of 2026, with speed tables added; where else Burlington is digging this fall

The City has pushed Snake Road's reconstruction from November to the end of 2026 and added concrete speed tables. Upper Middle Road watermain work is due to start this fall, and the New Street bridge at Tuck Creek is set to finish in November.

Snake Road

Rankin Construction has been working on Snake Road, from Old York Road to the CN Rail bridge at the city limit, since the end of July, replacing the asphalt, steel beam guide rail and storm culverts in poor condition, with isolated curb repairs. The City's July project update gave the schedule as May to November 2026. Its October update says that, due to unexpected delays, the expected completion date has been extended to the end of 2026.

The October update also adds traffic calming: concrete speed tables will be installed at strategic locations on the upper portion of Snake Road. The project page says this responds to local residents' concerns about vehicle speed and safety. Lane restrictions and short-term road closures remain in place during construction, with access to homes maintained; construction hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Robinson High School entrance, spring to summer 2027; north side with new cycle tracks, summer to fall 2027. Lane restrictions during the work.

Waterfront Parking Garage, 414 Locust St.
Elevator replacement from September 14 to December 31, 2026; the elevator is out of service and parking levels are reachable only by the stairs.

For the Upper Middle Road project, the City's schedule listed tendering in July and August and contract award in August and September; the project page had not yet named a contractor or a day-to-day site contact as of October 9. The City says more information on lane restrictions will follow once a contractor is hired and the schedule is finalized.
