HDSB trustees are scheduled to consider the Burlington Central–Nelson high school boundary on November 3
The public board's November 3 agenda lists the recommendation from its Burlington Central–Nelson boundary review, which covers where some Tecumseh PS students go for Grade 9 from 2027. Requests to address trustees are due by noon on November 2.
The details
What is on the agenda
The Halton District School Board's agenda for its Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 lists, under Action Items, Report 26077, "2026 LTAP Boundary Review (Pathway 2) Processes." One of the report's attachments is Appendix C, "Recommendation for Burlington Central - Nelson School Realignment Boundary Review." Two other appendices to the same report carry recommendations from other boundary reviews. The agenda lists the recommendation but does not summarize it.
The board's published timeline for the review had trustees considering the recommendation for approval at an October 7 Board meeting. Its meetings page lists a notice cancelling the Board meeting that had been scheduled for October 6, and the review page still shows the recommendation "For Decision" as TBD. The board has not posted a decision on the review.

What the board said in September
On September 9, 2026, the board told families that the review's steering committee recommends Option 1. Under it, students living east of Guelph Line in the Tecumseh PS catchment (English program) who enter Grade 9 in 2027 would be directed to Nelson HS, and students west of Guelph Line would continue to be directed to Burlington Central School, with "no change in the Grade 9 direction." The board said there is no impact on students already enrolled at Burlington Central or Nelson, and that new boundaries take effect on September 1, 2027.
The review covers the English program only. The board says students from the Leighland neighbourhood would still be directed to Burlington Central because of its proximity, so Tecumseh PS would keep a split Grade 8 community. When trustees started the review on June 2, the board said it was scheduled to be completed before the distribution of option sheets, which begins in October 2026.
How to ask to speak to trustees
- Residents of Halton may ask to delegate the Board. Requests go through the online Delegation Request Form on hdsb.ca and must arrive by noon one day before the meeting. The board's procedure gives the example of a Tuesday meeting, for which the deadline is noon on the Monday: here, November 2.
- Each delegation gets up to five minutes, plus up to five minutes to answer trustees' questions of clarification. A maximum of six delegations is scheduled per meeting, and the topic must be within the Board's jurisdiction.
- Where more than six individuals or groups with significantly different perspectives ask to speak on one topic, the procedure lets the Chair call one or more Special Delegation Meetings.
- Material for trustees should reach the board's Manager of Governance and Board Services before noon the day before the meeting. The board publishes delegates' names and topics on its website in advance, and delegations are livestreamed.
