Kindergarten for September 2027

The Catholic board's Burlington kindergarten open house is on Thursday, October 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Elementary School, 2222 Country Club Dr. The board says the session is a general overview of its full-day kindergarten program rather than a tour specific to the host school, and that families get school-specific details after registering at their designated home school in 2027. It asks families to fill out a sign-up form for planning purposes.

The Halton District School Board held its Burlington open house on October 1 at John William Boich Public School. It says families with children starting kindergarten in September 2027 can register starting in October 2026, in person or through the online pre-registration form on its website.

  • Year 1 (Junior) Kindergarten in September 2027: the child must be four years old by December 31, 2027.
  • Year 2 (Senior) Kindergarten in September 2027: the child must be five years old by December 31, 2027.

A new regional sports program

The Halton District School Board's new Academy for Athletic Performance and Excellence, a program for competitive student-athletes, opens in September 2027 at the board's new Oakville Secondary School, 4020 Sixth Line. The board says it is open to eligible secondary students across Ontario, including Burlington. A virtual livestream is scheduled for October 26, and applications for the first year, for Grade 9 and 10 students, open on October 30.
